Emergency Center

When moments count, Holy Family Hospital's Emergency Center offers immediate care. A high volume emergency center, it serves over 100 patients daily. To keep up with Spokane's north side development, Holy Family recently expanded the center to over 19,000 square feet of new space and 30 treatment rooms. It is designed with room to grow and can treat up to 65,000 patients per year.

Two large trauma rooms house special "ceiling booms" wired with gases and oxygen to circle the patient during emergency treatment. Each of the rooms are designed with automatic blood pressure machines, special lighting, better access to nursing stations for better patient observation, screens capable of monitoring cardiac functions from any patient room, and a decontamination bay.

The Holy Family Emergency Center also features two new separate entrances for walk-in and ambulance patients. Both entrances feature heated cement drives for the safety of patients and staff. Two emergency triage areas have been developed and enlarged so that the sickest are treated the quickest. A "Fast Track" system for less serious injuries was designed to see patients within 30 minutes of arrival time. A designated social worker, patient advocate, bedside registration and volunteers to assist with traffic flow are other ways Holy Family Hospital streamlines service in the Emergency Center.
