The unit provides
physical and
emotional nursing
care for adults
with cancer. Major
conditions treated
include all
oncology
diagnoses,
chemotherapy,
blood transfusions, pain management, hospice
patients and radiation therapy patients. The 24 bed
unit on the third floor provides a family room for
patients and their families, as well as flexible
visiting hours to accommodate any schedule. At
Holy Family Hospital, the patient is an integral part
of the treatment, as are family, friends and other
members of the patient's support system.
The orthopedic unit, a 24-bed unit on the fourth
floor of the hospital, cares for patients with
disorders of the joints, bones and associated
muscles. The majority of patients in the unit are
those needing a knee pinning, or total hip and
knee replacements due to degenerative joint
disease. Most other orthopedic conditions can be
treated through out-patient surgery or treatment.
The goal of the pediatric unit staff is to provide
skilled physical and emotional care for the
chronically and/or acutely ill adolescent child or
infant in a manner that least disrupts the family unit
integrity. Parents and/or family members are
encouraged to stay overnight with their loved ones.
The unit is on the fourth floor and includes a
children's play room visible from the nurses'
station.
The surgical unit, a 35-bed unit on the 5th floor of
the hospital, cares for patients following surgery.
