Who can be a volunteer at Holy
Family Hospital?

A wide variety of volunteers are needed. Volunteers range in age from the junior volunteers who are 14 years old to adult volunteers of all ages. Whether you have a special skill or want to learn new skills, your services are helpful.

What types of services do
volunteers provide?

Volunteers provide many different types of services. The following are examples of some of the duties currently provided by volunteers: office/clerical work, transportation of patients, receptionist, delivery of mail/flowers, gift shop sales.

Where within the hospital do
volunteers work?

Volunteers are needed in a wide variety of areas. The following list is an example of some of these areas: front desk, auxiliary office, business office, emergency room, gift shop, community relations, IV therapy, pediatrics, physical therapy, surgery waiting desk.

How many hours per week does
a volunteer usually work?

A volunteer is asked to commit to at least three months of volunteer services. Furthermore, for scheduling purposes, it is important that the volunteer be able to maintain a set weekly schedule. Some volunteers work as few as four hours per week, but may work as many as desired. Volunteer positions are available seven days a week. Work shifts are divided into four hour time blocks:

  • Morning: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
  • Afternoon: 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
  • Evening:4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
How do I become a volunteer?
The following items need to be completed in order to become a volunteer:
  • Volunteer application form
  • Pre-volunteer assessment
  • Washington State Patrol background check
  • Volunteer orientation
  • TB skin test within the last 6 months

The volunteer office is located in the basement of Holy Family Hospital. Office hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. For more information, please call 482-2253.
